This tour is perfectly timed so that even if you are just passing through, you’ll have time to take a break and enjoy it.
What to Expect: When you arrive for your tour you will receive all the gear you need plus a comprehensive safety briefing and instruction on how to ride your ATV safely. After some practice time at our base area your guide will lead you up the trail through verdant old-growth BC forest and open slopes for a spectacular view of Panorama Mountain Resort and the surrounding peaks of the lovely Toby Creek Valley. There are many opportunities to see wildlife and to stop and take in the fragrance of the forest and the flowers along the trail.
The Waterfall: At the mid-point of the trip you will park your ATV and follow your guide along a short pathway to the base of the Smith Falls where you can watch a clear, pure, snow-fed mountain stream sparkle and cascade over 100′ down a vertical rock face. You can get so close you can feel the mist on your face and listen to the water hitting the rocks at the base of the falls. You can even try your hand a gold-panning in one of the pools beside the viewpoint. Although it’s very close to the main trail, many unguided visitors drive right past never knowing what they missed.
Always Changing: In winter this waterfall is fully frozen. By June it casts off the ice pillar and rushes over the rock face and through the snowbanks still present on the forest floor. On hot days in July it thunders – fed by melting snow. Come August and September it reduces to a beautiful and sparkling bridal-veil waterfall. In early October on cold nights the first thin ice starts to reform on the edges, sometimes framed by the spectacle of an early snowfall. It’s never the same from one day to the next
Don’t Miss It! This is a beautiful and secret spot – it’s often hard to turn your back and leave. We’d love to show it to you.
Please note: This tour does not reach the cabin at Paradise Bowl. If you would like to see visit our alpine bowl and cabin and see the source of the waterfall please select our Paradise Mountain Tour.
