Banff & Kootenay National Parks and the Columbia Valley
Depart Banff and travel west through spectacular Banff National Park and then up and over Vermilion Pass into Kootenay National Park (Hwy 93 South).
As you enter Kootenay National Park you will cross the continental divide where water flows east and west towards either the Atlantic Ocean or the Pacific Ocean. You will travel over two mountain passes and see spectacular Castle Mountain (2,766 m /9,075 ft) and Storm Mountain (3100m /10171ft.). Kootenay National Park is virtually untouched by development and is the least visited of the four mountain parks. Your driver will point out spectacular mountain views and you will see the headwaters of the mighty Kootenay River and abundant opportunities to view wildlife along the way.
Columbia River Wetlands: Shortly before arrival at Toby Creek Adventures you will see the world-famous Columbia Wetlands a 15,070 hectare wetland in the Columbia Valley.
The Columbia Wetlands is a breath-taking natural wilderness and one of the world’s living treasures. This is also the headwaters of the Columbia River, which is 1,243 miles (2,000 km) long, the largest river in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The Columbia River drains an area roughly the size of France, it’s watershed extends into seven U.S. states and all of the south-east interior of British Columbia.
Your 4WD ATV or UTV Trip
Never ridden an ATV before? No problem! Most of our guests are first-timers or novice riders. Our experienced and professional guides will provide you with a full safety briefing and instruction prior to departure. We also provide you with all the gear you need including a helmet, gloves, boots and rain-jacket and pants.
There is ample opportunity to practice your riding skills and become familiar with the machine before we head out on the trail. We ride at a leisurely pace and you will never have to ride any faster than you wish or on terrain that exceeds your comfort level. Our goal is to provide you with a safe, memorable and highly enjoyable experience.
We also offer Side-by-Side upgrades for those who prefer to drive rather than ride a 4WD machine.
Our ATV Trail system: Our ATV tours are comfortable scenic wilderness experiences that are suitable for all members of the family and all ages and experience levels. We use ATVs as a fun method of transport to access beautiful places with plenty of time to stop for photographs. Our mountain trails are well formed and easy grade back-country roads that overlook the mighty Columbia River, Kootenay and Banff National Parks.
What you will experience: You will experience traveling in style on a snow-capped mountain with cascading waterfalls, old-growth forest, stream crossings, opportunities to view wildlife (bears, moose, deer, hoary marmots, columbian ground squirrels, ravens and more). You can even try your hand at gold panning in a wild mountain stream just like the early explorers who first discovered the Paradise Mine.
