The Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 Course will provide an entry-level decision-making framework that is based on the most advanced knowledge available. It is suitable for use by people with basic training and little experience.  Our AST1 courses are specifically designed for snowmobile operators.  This course requires attendance for 7 hours of classroom time and one full day of field time.

Advanced Snowmobile Operators Course

The Advanced Snowmobile Operators Course has been custom designed by Toby Creek Adventures.  The course provides classroom, workshop and field sessions and provides the student with a comprehensive understanding of snowmobile operation and riding skills, basic mechanical problem solving, backcountry riding and survival skills, trailering and transport and general navigation and route finding skills.  We recommend that all students combine this course with an AST1 and/or AST2 course.  A certificate of completion is provided to successful students.  This course was initially developed for military clients and is suitable for employment related operators who need to use snowmobiles as part of their job and must meet workplace safety training standards.
